1995 Grand am dash half dead

I like to say hello to everyone frist time here. i instilled a new Sony radio i got it hook ups but i have two wires left. {1 is the dimmer wire 2nd light wire} there is 3 lights in the cluster for seeing at night that are not working. i checked to make sure they are good bulbs. Or could it have some thing to do what the Temp. gage if the dimmer is off the Temp. gage works fine. when the dimmer is on the Temp. gage max out. [if any one could help me out i could use your help]. Please and all the thanks i can give dave

Well, from what you are describing, it seems the dimmer wire not being connected is not completing a circuit. I'd stay calm until some of the other members chime in, someone can lead you better to solve your prob.

What lights in the dash aren't working? Did you cut wires or use a plug in adapter?

Which lights are you missing? Instrument? HVAC? Interior? If its half the instrument panel being out and the bulbs are good, its a fault in the cluster itself, pull it out look at the circuit on the back of it see if you can find the short. HVAC lights pull the radio out look for a cut or broken wire behind the radio, its also possible that one of the bulbs is burned out without looking like that, and they are really fun to replace, kinda hard to get a grip on a small bulb like that. Interior bulbs being out, could be the same thing, a cut or broken wire. Good luck, electrical glitches are really fun to find sometimes.

Sounds like you fried the instrument cluster. Anyone else agree/disagree?

I check it all out it all came out good. run a test on each one of them and boy that was fun. the cluster has two diff bulbs in it one is {PC161} the other is {PC194} so like to know if that could be what is doing it all. It was like this when she got the car. the wires to the radio was alredy cut but i got them all hooked up right. Like i said the only ones that was left was the wire to the light one and the one for the dimmer.
