paint chip crater problems!!polive1 07-10-2005, 05:34 PM I recently used some touch up paint to cover up a paint chip. I'm fairly new at this and I followed the instructions in the kit ( GM paint chip repair kit ) but the paint blob looks like it has craters, maybe due to air pockets? I tried sanding it down but it didn't help at all. Anyone have any suggestions in how to get rid of them? I have included a picture if it helps. Any help would be appreciated... Was there rust under the touchup? polive1 08-22-2005, 05:16 PM Was there rust under the touchup? Hmm..No, I'm pretty sure I cleared it up before applying the paint. Sen Sen 08-24-2005, 04:09 PM Well it's hard to judge from the pic. But to me it looks like either too much paint was used or rust has started under the chip. I would suggest just sanding it down and try to paint it again, make sure you give it enough time to dry.. If there is any rust, make sure you use a Rust neutralizer/converter. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
