What are the common problems with fuel inj. on non-turbo 300zx cars 1984-89 and how expensive it usually works out. And how much are used computers for them?

i think the fuel injection system was on re-call for the Z31's...might want to look into that.

used computers...should not be expensive at all. check out Z31.com. they have a classified section there that you need to check out...plus they can tell you exactly what your looking for. but im sure someone on here can speak further upon the subject...

im curious, whats the matter with the Z???

yeah, there was a recall on the injectors for them catching fire... if your car hasn't been done yet, you can go in and get all of the injectors replaced at no charge.. in fact i had better do that

Yeah I can attest to that. A few days after I bought my z31 the injectors leaked and caught fire. Unfortunately the recall wasn't available in Australia.. Total cost was $1200 to get it all fixed. I reccommend you get them replaced NOW before it ends up costing you real money.

But what are the common sensor units failures?
I mean MAF,MAP,02,TPS,coolant,vechicle speed sensors, and the fuel pump too. I used to own some camaros before that and they had typical problems with all those sensors. And also, is it possible to scan the trouble codes on the computer without getting the scanner?I am looking at the car that needs fuel injection work, its really cheap and iam wondering if i can male it work. The car runs but hesitates.I gonna see it tonight. Thanks for your help

well, none of the sensors are really common sources but some of them do need to be replaced periodically not because they are troublesome...just because they dont last forever. the TPS sensor is probably your most popular problem causer.

hesitation could be caused by so many different things it isnt even funny...so when you check it out, tell us exactly what it is doing and maybe we can help you from there. could possibly be just a misgapped spark plug or in need of some fuel injection cleaner.

cheack out nhtsa.com for info about fuel injector replacement. As far asn z31's go, the oil pressure sending unit seems to go bad about ounce a year.

i got 2 1st gen 300's and never had to replace the oil pressure sender
but then again i keep my oil cleaner than clean if it browns its drained and changed in 2 or 3 days always been an oil changing feind
also did you see if the inj was leaking or perhaps you only need a new inj. clip i just replaced all mine
go to autozone and get the clips for a 87 multiport 2.8 camaro and use them they have a better clipping design and are only 4$ a peice instead of the 300's at 32 a peice good luck
