Here's the deal:

I've been looking for a semi-affordable WRX Sportwagon for a while now. The other day, driving past a local Dodge dealership, I spotted this:

http://www.healeybrothers.com/vehicle/images/CHU6976.jpg

It's almost EXACTLY what I've been looking for (it's silver instead of black/blue, but I'm not picky). Here's its stats:

'02 WRX Sportwagon
Manual 5 Spd
45,550 miles

-Armrest extender
-Premium Sound
-Cargo Area Tray & Net
-Short Throw Shifter
-Autodim Mirror
-Security System Upgrade

Sub-standard Paint (large chips under rear spoiler & one large paint chunk missing on the front bumber -you can't see it in the pic, but it's there-)
Some Interior Wear & Tear

For a grand total of... $15,588.

Now... I currently have an '01 Grand AM GT with 75,000 miles on it, a slightly-smaller-than fist size dent in the rear driver's side 1/4. It's got the power moon-roof, rear 175 Watt Alpines, front 150 Watt Pioneers, etc etc. All told it's worth about $4500 for a trade in. I still owe $7000 on it, but I've been pre-approved for a $18,500 loan for the WRX and the rollover. According to my bank, the payments for 72 months would be $275/mth. I make around $500+/- a week.

Any opinions? Is it worth that much? Should I try and talk them down a bit? What would YOU do?

Thanks for any help, and sorry about my life story :iceslolan

I ran an Edmunds report based on what you told us, dealer retail should be around $16,350 for that vehicle.
This could mean they're:
1. Trying to get the car off the lot
2. Idiots and selling it below market value
3. Not telling you everything about the vehicle.
4. All of the above.

Again...I'm baffled by these people who own cars that are worth thousands below what they owe. I just don't understand how people get that kind of loan, or a crappy car that depreciate so quickly, or both.

My Grand AM wasn't "crappy". I have a near 80 mile commute daily, and put an assload of miles on it REALLY quick. THAT is how it depreciated so quickly.

BTW thanks for the attitude.

Man, these impreza forums have gone downhill as of lately. Very inactive.

Go try posting your question at I-Club or NASIOC. They got some good peeps down there

Actually, Keita has a lot to offer, the problem is the number of stupid questions being posted here at the moment.

It's the stupid questions that have caused these forums to go downhill, the laziness of new members who consider themselves above using the search feature is very frustrating for those of use that have been here a long time.

There's an FAQ and search feature, perhaps if more people used them both some of the most knowledgable members would return?

People have different definitions of "crappy car"....mine happens to include cars that can't hold their value, and was not referring to looks or performance, for this particular comment. If you would like to argue about how Pontiacs hold their value, you can go ahead, but you'd have a slim chance of convincing anyone here, regardless of miles you have.
