Automatic to Manual??feroce 07-07-2005, 11:08 PM Hi, I'm new and I've been looking around and either I missed it or it hasn't been discussed (im sure i missed it). There's a 97 240sx LE i have in mind right now. It is a good price but its an a/t. I really don't like the idea of an automatic 240sx, but that's all i can find right now until the local dealership goes to the auction and finds one but i highly doubt that. It has a lil short of 90k miles and I really want to pick this up. I was wondering if the automatic to manual transmission would be difficult or would it be a waste of time/money?? If its not worth it, can i have some opinions on the automatic. Whether if its still an enjoyable ride or not, I really dislike automatics but I love 240sx's and this opportunity might be all i have. (240sx's are rare around this Air Force Base, or in New Jersey in general.) Also, I would please like to know the different models of the 240sx. If LE edition is any good or not. I am new to 240sx's. But i always had an eye for them and I would appreciate if someone helped me out a bit. Thanx a lot, peace~ SHIFT_KA24DE 07-07-2005, 11:13 PM i think there's a FAQ on what parts you need to complete a transmission swap. Just search in some keywords and it'll come out. copy and paste.... "Newly introduced in mid-1997, the top-of-the-line 240SX LE offers a unique combination of sports car styling and performance with well-appointed amenities. Fitted with aggressive lower body side sill extensions and body-color rear spoiler, 240SX LE features standard equipped luxuries such as CFC-free air-conditioning, cruise control, leather seating surfaces, power sliding glass sunroof with tilt feature, remote keyless entry and vehicle security system and 100-watt AM/FM/CD/Cassette audio system with six speakers." feroce 07-07-2005, 11:15 PM Thanx, i'll check that out, and if any body else has to put in a few cents, that'll be nice too. peace AWDSR20 07-08-2005, 02:33 AM well, its easy w the right tools...read the FAQS, if u have any Q don't hztat 2 ask! S14 90K on it...sounds nice? 5 lugs? LSD? $? color? feroce 07-08-2005, 04:50 PM Color is black, its an automatic. Its a 97 240sx LE. I really duno much about this car, so u're gona help me on the lugs (meaning on the wheels? if so then yes, its 5. But i'm just being stupid) And which is better? SE or LE? im just wondering about the specs between the two. Thanx AWDSR20 07-08-2005, 06:48 PM u got the goood one... most of us have 4 lugs... u have 4 piston breaks too right? its a nice car, the lower modl cmz w 4 lugs and singl piston caliprs... thats about it. feroce 07-08-2005, 10:20 PM Which would you guys prefer? 97 SE manual or 97 LE automatic? I know the LE is a bit more "luxurious" i'd have to put it (but not much more except for a lil bit more speakers i think and remote keyless entry). They both have 5 lugs. The SE manual has like 94k miles and the LE has about 85K (that's not much). They both are in good shape, the LE actually looks a bit newer than the SE but I can always change that :D. Well, hit me up again, thanx a lot sidewayzS13 07-08-2005, 10:22 PM id rather have a manual fuck luxury. feroce 07-08-2005, 10:41 PM Yeah, the manual sounds real good. Im not worried about the luxury. But I'm mostly concerned about the transmission. Just wanted some input from other people. I'll be taking a look at the car next week, I can't wait hahaha. Thanx~~ SHIFT_KA24DE 07-08-2005, 10:43 PM i think it's a steal... the kouki S14's are already hard to find. Just keep it clean and complete the manual swap... your car's value will increase by a lot. lolz... black you said? damn that's hot. feroce 07-08-2005, 11:04 PM They're both black!! haha, I am going to visit him tuesday hopefully and i'll choose whether i want the SE or LE, whichever...I'll end up with a manual no matter what :D GSR2NR94 07-09-2005, 05:37 PM 95 and 96 had the 4 lug base version, and in 97,98, they were all five lug. And you better pick the SE because if you get the LE over little differences that they are between the two, than you suck for shoosing an auto. I am not making fun of anybody with auto because I am sure that the only reason they have it is because is was what was available at the time, but if you have a choice, you better get manual. zacremacle 07-09-2005, 06:32 PM No shit! I looked forever for a manual and couldent find a nice one within 500 miles so i finally just got a nice clean automatic. i cant wait to swap to manual though. sidewayzS13 07-09-2005, 07:24 PM thats what i did started w/ a auto ka and now im sitting w/ a manual sr and a case of beer nothing to do before hurricanes but sit at the comp and drink beer everything in town is shut down feroce 07-16-2005, 05:44 PM wassup?? i visited the guy, everyone's asking him for the car. I told him that if he holds on to it i'll buy it this week. He was a nice guy, i took it for a run and stuff and he seemed excited. He's getting rid of it because there was a 240sx for sale with a SR swap already done in it and he wants to buy it ASAP. So, i'll be picking it up REAL soon once the bank sends the check :). I'll post some pics of it soon on a new thread to introduce myself the proper way and with the new car. f*kin excited haha...aite then, peace~ vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
