any better turbo than 2.5 for sti? im dumbAFmember2005 07-07-2005, 06:08 PM i would also like to know if it was possible to relocate the stock sti turbo by making it front mount. or , is there any better turbo out there that i can purchase to make THAT front mount? any help would be great. im sorry i forgot to add. is the sti 'twin turbo' capable? i do not know subaru but im planning to get one and doing my own shet to it. thanks dawgs. 2turboimports 07-07-2005, 07:26 PM they make these things called pipes and if you connect them in a certain manner you too can have a front mount intercooler. You don't need to move the turbo. And there would be no benefit in twin turboing a subaru. You could probably do it....spend a shit load of money fabricating parts..and then be slower than when you started!!!!! keita 07-08-2005, 02:31 AM I don't see a big point in moving the turbo...front, side, back, whatever. Perhaps you're thinking about the intercooler.... Sure you can move it to the front. WRX car has it in the front, probably more efficient that way. AFmember2005 07-08-2005, 02:51 AM i appreciate the advice. didnt appreciate the smart ass remarks. but thanks for your positive intent. freakray 07-08-2005, 08:07 AM We ain't your 'dawgs'. The Subaru's turbo and intercooler are positioned for the most efficient performance of the system. You can reposition the turbo but that would make the system less efficient in how much boost it can produce. You could reposition the intercooler to get the air cooler, but that would once again, reduce the actual boost level attainable. Now my real advice is to first learn all you can about how the Subaru transmission, engine and turbo set up work and start from there. Even understanding exactly how a turbo set up like Subaru's works will make a world of difference as to how you approach the task you intend. freakray 07-08-2005, 08:09 AM Sure you can move it to the front. WRC car has it in the front, probably more efficient that way. Don't forget though, the WRC car runs a bigger turbo with an intake restrictor. MDLarson 07-08-2005, 12:35 PM There be too much sarcasm around here, I'm thinkin'. From everybody. :( AFmember2005 07-08-2005, 04:28 PM my stock 3 cyl metro would smoke yallllllllllll :grinyes: freakray 07-08-2005, 11:17 PM So, did you come here to troll, or for advice? keita 07-09-2005, 06:35 PM Thanks Ray... you know what I mean...wrC. I'm aware that their system is very different from a WRX...I was simply talking about the intercooler itself. freakray 07-10-2005, 11:11 PM Thanks Ray... you know what I mean...wrC. I'm aware that their system is very different from a WRX...I was simply talking about the intercooler itself. I know you know what the WRC car runs, I was just clarifying for the uninformed crowds we deal with on a daily basis ;) Last thing we need is them confusing the WRC spec Impreza and the US spec WRX. speedphreak 07-11-2005, 02:31 PM Why the HELL would you want to twin turbo a STi?!?! Please tell me this. Who not throw a front mount, full exhaust, UTEC and a tune and call it a day....you'll have way more than 300 bhp and torque out the ass! This is your "street" car, right? haha -Chris.......If you wanna TT a car, buy a Vtec Civic...lol...i heard thats all the rage! LOL! 2turboimports 07-15-2005, 01:01 AM just in case someone was saying the turbo on a WRC car is relocated to the front...please refer to this picture. http://www.swrt.com/cpimages/689464.jpg In the event 'relocated to a front mount turbo?' was confused with a FMIC then.....go read some more books before you buy a turbocharged car. ;) or if you still buy a turbo car leave the suby's alone. We have enough stupid people giving us bad names already.
