projectors vs, halosrk2581 07-07-2005, 12:36 PM Hello all, question: Is it worth the savings to buy projectors and do a d.i.y. conversoin to add halos, or should I just buy the headlights with the halos? Greenblurr93 07-07-2005, 01:14 PM if you have the money, just buy the projectors with the halos... but please whatever you do, dont try and put a HID kit in your halogen projectors... 00accord44 07-07-2005, 08:33 PM It'd be easier and more cost effective to just buy projectors with halos. But word to the wise, make sure the set you buy has a good projector. I had some halo projectors, but the projector was so shitty, I bought some regular black housing headlights. Greenblur, I have an HID kit and had originally put it in the projectors. The beam was still horrible, but I attributed that to the cheapness of the projector, not the kit. It works great in my oem style headlights. Have you heard of problems with HID going in aftermarket projectors??? Greenblurr93 07-08-2005, 10:45 AM ive heard of problem hen you put HID in halogen projectors...it throws glare too much, what people should do is buy HID projectors with the lights and ballasts and replacce the halogen with HID projectors 00accord44 07-08-2005, 11:20 AM Oh, I see. It seems that glare is more of a problem in my non projector housing than it was in the projectors. Getting an hid projector is the way to go. Looks great and stops the glare, but they cost a pretty penny, even on ebay. The cheapest ones I ever found were off older lexus es300s and they were still over $400 for the pair. What I really want is a set from either an S2k, X5, or A6/ A4. Or the new maxima EDIT: I looked on ebay just now since you've resparked my interest in doing an HID projector conversion. Prices have come down considerably. Found pairs for only $150. They look to be authentic, not the cheap shit they put in the halo projectors (at least the ones I've seen) So its not too expensive to get real HID projectors in your halos. As soon as I get an extra $150 I'm doin it myself. I'm tired of lookin at my useless halo projectors in my closet vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
