loud roaring at higher speeds

a noise that appears to come from the area behind the passanger seat is heard when driving. When I get up to between 65 and 70 mph the noise becomes extremely loud and any speed after that it goes down but can still be heard. It can be heard from the drivers side but moving ot the passanger side and hten backwards to the back seat on the passanger side it gets louder. I had the muffler looked at and was told it was fine and someone else suggested the AC compressor but the AC still works without problems. Does anyone have anyh suggestions to what it might be like a hole in something?

thanks

Have the rear wheel bearing on that side checked to see if it's OK. A bad wheel bearing will make a loud groaning noise at speed.

ya i had a friend with a saab 9 3 convertible that had the same issue. Fixing the wheel bearings solved the problem(as far as i know)
