Supra Ma70 90 3.0l gt?Cappakazi 07-06-2005, 02:57 AM Hi there I just recently bought my ma70 3.0l gt 90 and got it from Japan, was wondering cuz i live in Australia with the restrictions here the Australian model 3.0l gt is slower than mine, can anyone tell me if there is a difference in k/w or horsepower from a Japan spec to and Australian spec?? projectsupramk3 07-06-2005, 11:35 AM Why would there be any difference in power? The motors are exactly the same unless you have emissions parts like an EGR system and a catalitic converter or two which would decrease HP. What model MKIII do you have that your are comparing the MA70 to? There are a huge number of things that could happen in 15 years to make one A70 slower than another. In reply (thanks BTW) well basically i ask this because in Australia we have strict power limitations etc for example the 200sx over here come with like 15hp to 20 hp less than american and jap sec silvias it is the same with Australian built wrx and lancers thats why i ask this i know that this model supra did come as an "Australian model" (assembled here) and restrictions were made, so toyota tell me. And as for comparison to the other Supra both same engines 90 models's gt 7mgte (something i cant remeber will search my compliance papers for that one) For the 15years i could unterstand that on my car but his was extremely well maintained with a handfull of upgrades and my was considerably more powerful. projectsupramk3 07-15-2005, 09:59 AM Odd, I suppose the ECU could have a different tune specificly to detune it for Australian restrictions? The tune is slightly different from the JDM ECU to the US ECU so that wouldn't suprise me if they did it down there also, that is only speculation though. Does the slower car have a stock exhaust, clogged cats, ect. ect? There are just to many variables unless they are both bone stock and very well maintained, you know what I mean. Either way there is nothing Toyota did to detune the car that you can't undo and get the HP back. Get a new ECU or piggy back, full exhaust, eliminate the EGR system, the mods are practically endless and only limited by your budget. Also I'm by far no Nissan expert but we didn't get any Silvia's here, we did get the 200SX but it's hardly the same car at all with just over 110HP IIRC.
