My wipers keep crapping out. Sometimes they come back on and sometimes I have to reach out, grab the arm & give it a yank. Sometimes I drive blind all the way to work. I bought a wiper motor because I am tired of dealing with the problerm but for the life of me I CANNOT figure out how to get the wipers off. Before I can get to the motor I need to get them off. Can anyone offer any insight?

If you're talking about removing the wiper arms from the wiper transmission shafts, and if it's like my '99, you will find a small tab along the base of each arm right at the shaft. Simply pull this small tab (about one inch long) out, or away from the arm and lift the arms off the shaft. You may need to use a screwdriver to gently start the tab to slide out, but when it's out about an inch or so the shaft is released from the arm. Be sure to very lightly lube the shaft with a light grease prior to reinstalling the arms so that next time it will be easy.

It appears that you bought a wiper motor. Not sure if you have installed it yet, but did you ever consider buying the wiper module? I had the same problem you had with the wiper blades, but called my dealer and asked about the price of a motor to fix the problem and my advisor told me to buy a module and try this first, since to cost of a motor would be more expensive. Well, I bought the module and put it on myself in a few minutes and my wipers have worked fine since.

yep..bought a motor at the auto wrecker for $60.00. I did not know about the module. I found the tool I needed to get the wipers off. Tried the tab but that did not work....I actually needed a tool. So far so good....fingers crossed. It rained today and the wipers worked just fine. I hope it stays that way. Thnx for asking

if you get someone who knows how to light solder, you can take the cover plate off the module and you'll see which solder joints have a hairline crack around them. Just resolder them and you'll be fixed. To get the wipers off you have to wiggle them (saw the windhield guy pull them off). they dont turn because they have a fixed slot holding them in place.
