Hey there, I have a 90 Honda Accord EXR with auto transmission. My problem is that the shiter handle sticks when shifting between P and R. Really stiff moving out of park sometimes. The transmission works fine and I have no codes. The arm just sticks. Brakes on all the way, shifter button pushed all the way in and it is only hard to move between P and R. All others gears move fine.
Is this a major problem or just a bearing or bushing with the actual shifter arm? Could the tranny linkage need to be adjusted?
Need to fix soon. The car is for sale right now.
Thanks

Almost certainly the shifter cable needs to be replaced. You've described the exact symptoms.

excellent, thanks. Hope that's it. I just want it to be working well when I sell it. I want to buy a newer Accord or Civic.

It was the shifter linkage and the shifter solenoid.
Thanks for your help.

Both linkage and solenoid?

Both linkage and solenoid?
Yeah, the solenoid was the problem but because I left it for a while, the linkage got stretched.
That is what the mechanic said. I sold the car and they paid asking but on the condition that I fixed this problem. Linkage $60 CAD and Solenoid $114 CAD so, not too bad.
Thanks again for all the help.
