1996 SC2 Service Light!Houstonian 07-02-2005, 11:18 PM Anyone had any issues with the service light coming on with the wrench next to it? Not the 'service engine soon' light but the other one. I took it to Auto Zone and they are saying all is well on their computer. No "P" code came up but the light and wrench are still on. All fluids are fine and the car runs great. sierrap615 07-03-2005, 01:00 AM the 'service wrench' light means you have a problem with a non-emissions related component. the cheapo scanners autopart stores use can't read them. any GM/Saturn dealership will have the proper Tech2 scantool that is needed. Houstonian 07-04-2005, 12:00 AM So am I having a problem with my engine that may cause serious issues if I don't get it checked? I mean it runs great and nothing different than it has been for years. Must be more of a mechanical issue eh? Any ideas what it might be just for grins? sierrap615 07-04-2005, 02:02 AM i beleave the service wrench light is for any Bxxxx code (body code) expect airbags and ABS, which have their own light. http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44820 DM_Rok 07-04-2005, 06:58 AM Have you recently disconnnected the battery? That wrench light usually indicates that the Crankshaft sensor learn-in has not been completed. It's best to take it to a dealership or a repair shop that has a TECH 2 scantool. Not a major procedure to do, so don't let them charge you an arm and a leg, but if there are any misfires at all the computer won't complete the procedure Houstonian 07-04-2005, 10:59 PM I did disconnect the battery and now that I think about it the car has not been tuned up, (new plugs etc.), in a long time. Maybe it is due. I did stop by a auto repair near my house and they wanted $48.00 to put the TECH Scan tool on my car. Geeeez! Thanks so much for all the responses and you are all awesome. I could tune it up for less than having it checked if it is a misfire issue. Comes on everytime I start the car EXACTLY 15 seconds after it is running. Lemme try a tune up tomorrow and I will get back with you all. sierrap615 07-06-2005, 01:53 AM ask around, with any luck you may find someone to do it for free(in hope you will have them repair the problem) exactly 15 seconds? i feel its happening during a system self check(almost every module goes thru a selftest at startup to ensure is functioning properly). i personially doubt the spark plugs will help. as if anything is wrong with them it would set the service engine light. Houstonian 07-06-2005, 12:24 PM Thanks alot for everyones help. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
