I have looked back on some of the cold air kit posts.
Rather then actually custom a CAI, I have already ordered and am considering just clamping a Universal K&N Cone directly to the throttle body.
I am looking for feedback and experiences.
Thx

Well you need to clamp it past the IAT sensor and the MAF - so you'd essentially have a short ram / warm air intake. You can't just attach it directly to the TB.

well if your after HP your most likely wont get anything... because your airflow should increase but the temp of the air will increase too... thats why the stock box.. recieves its air from the fenderwell... so in my opinion only do a custom air intake if its a true cold air intake or its a waste

The K&N filter came in yesterday. I ordered K&N filter RC-4560. 3.25" OD 5.5x8" cone
After taking apart the factory filter set up, i located the IAT and MAF. On the 93 3.3L it is located just inside the neck of the throttle body. The plastic hose into the airbox has no sensors what so ever.
I removed the complete assembly, and clamped the K&N cone directly to the throttle body. A ghetto WAI i suppose.
After a few laps around the block and a trip down town, it seems to be breathing alot better, but as for HP, i won't know sure, i am estimating 3-5hp gain. A buddy thinks possibly upto 15hp, i think he's wrong however.
Just thought i would let you all know.

Or for people who owned a civic it would be i added Altezza lights and muffler and gained 50 horsepower

AQll I know is that my ride starts and definately runs better [faster acceleration] with the K&N. I honestly doubt it increases my hp, but it seems to allow better air-flow [acceleration], which I definately noticed.

I tend to agree with Knifeblade. As for the HP gain, whether it there is any or not, the idea is that it is performing better.
As i stated above I disagreed with my friend about 15hp. So the smart remark about gaining HP for every little thing is abit over the top and not needed.

Herb,
It is louder then the stock airbox, but really only during acceleration. At idle you can tell there is more airflow, but the sound isn't too noticable.
I haven't heard the Honda Civic or TA, to do a side by side comparison.
I will post a picture, or a link to it, once i get it uploaded.

NO NO NO NO the rally stripes add weight cause they are on top of the car. The graphics on the side make them faster because they make cvics more aerodynamic.   J/K

stickers won't do much... its the body kit that doesn't fit and stays plain white that give you the Horses.. atleast 75hp :naughty: .. and your car will have the greatest aerodynamics you could want ... :cwm27:
