exhaust on a automaticSTINKINLINCOLN 07-02-2005, 02:08 PM I have just bought a 1994 Honda Accord the car drives great I got a great deal on the car the only thing that I HATE is that it is a automatic not 5 speed So for the past few days I have been thinging mod it with rims tints exhaust are leave it has anyone every put a exhaust on a auto I know I have heard them driving down the road and I did not like it what do you guys think Igovert500 07-06-2005, 03:47 AM I think punctuation isn't your strong suit. You might get more replies if it were easier to read whatever it is you are asking. I don't think I fully understand your question...but yes I had an auto with exhaust...it is the same as having a 5spd with exhaust...it's just exhaust. STINKINLINCOLN 07-07-2005, 08:44 AM punctuation is not a strong point for me ! all i want to know if you think it sounds stupid with a loud exhaust on a auto. vtownx 07-11-2005, 05:35 AM I personally on my 90 honda accord automatic have exaust on it, and dont really have any complaints about it, sure people will know its an automatic, but if it sounds great, who cares. highteknology 07-11-2005, 04:17 PM i can't even tell the difference between the way an auto and a standard sounds with an exhaust. see if you can find someone with a car like yours with an exhaust and ask to hear it. STINKINLINCOLN 07-11-2005, 08:02 PM Yeah I was thinking the same thing but I cant seem to find anyone with a exhaust with a auto lol.... hello1254hello 07-12-2005, 11:33 AM if you put an exhaust on an auto (or anycar for that matter) the cheaper they are, the worse the will sound.....i personally dont like the fart can, weedeater sound on my car, if i had an accord (auto) i would put a WorldSport cat back exhaust on it! Look around on the net for them....they make the car have sucha deeper sound! its great! but an exhaust on an auto is cool if its the right exhaust! Deadhead 07-12-2005, 12:53 PM well, i personally think that having a loud exaust on an auto is awefull... maybe it's just me. I saw an auto accord here in CO with one... it looked really nice, but when he accelerated, i just think it sounds really dumb. I like the precise cutoff of the manual in the sound. The constant sound of it when it changes gears makes me cringe. It sounded more like the person needed a new muffler, cause not many auto's have exaust kit's on them ( at least the majority of exaust kit's end up going on manuals from what i see ) BTW, take what i say with a grain of salt.... if you like the sound, cool, i'm happy for you.... Just a personal preference. vtownx 07-13-2005, 01:23 AM i have a 3.5 inch outlet on mine and it sounds deep, not high or loud, deep. of course exaust isnt for every automatic car, but i do believe that exaust works for accord automatics, and its worked for me. Igovert500 07-13-2005, 04:23 PM I don't understand why you guys are even questioning putting an exhaust on any Auto car. It makes NO difference if the car is auto or manual...except in a slightly different sound during shifts. audiophile420 07-18-2005, 09:19 AM I have a 2.5 inch pacesetter-monza exhuast on my 91 accord, it sounds good ,low toned when I accelerate. then when i get up to speed it quiets down to almost stock. Still planning on the intake cai, but just for the sound of it , not really looking for to much performance gains. hope this helps alittle. :2cents: STINKINLINCOLN 07-22-2005, 10:23 PM thanks guys !! well I have got a exhaust on my car just bought one off a friend 60.00 so the price was not that bad I still have not put it on yet but I will by sat alphalanos 07-22-2005, 10:30 PM judging by the price what you bought was a muffler. so dont be surprised if it doesnt sound good. Get some piping bent and put in a full cat back. a muffler alone wont do anything for your power, and most likely wont sound great. i recommend 2.25-2.5 inch piping, mandrel bent, if you cant get that then 2.5 crush bent. J30Archer 07-23-2005, 12:22 PM I have 2 Tanabe Mufflers on my 98 EX V6....As mentioned before it doesn't add to preformance. It sounds good low pitched clean sound, and when Im on the interstate you can hardly here them. The only time you can here them at High RPMs is when I bury the accelerator. dx3j 07-23-2005, 12:49 PM I have a '95 EX auto with Greddy exhaust from the header to the catback. I didn't do it for the sound or to try and get 1000hp. I did it beacuse the car seemed choked down with the skinny exhaust. Now that it is opened up, the car feels better when I drive. it's all about airflow man. pacoreguenga 07-26-2005, 08:12 PM Even though some say you can't get more juice from your engine by adding IMPROVED air flow, actually you CAN. Some engineers will also add that going that way you are going to damage your engine or your tranny. Truth is, who cares? If you like it, it's ok! I'll tell you my story: I took my 98 4dr Auto Accord and put on it a semi racing japanese air filter, a hand-made header (in mexico you can find many good and cheap muffler parts and mechanics), removed the cat, and added a pair or REMUS free-flow mufflers along with 2 freeflow resonators instead of the cat and the pre-silencer (yes, the guy converted my piping to a true 4 into 2 into 1 into 2 just like what I used to have on my good old motrocycling days) (now you know why I drive a Honda now on my sedan years) I also bought a set of cool Gislaved Speed 606 Tyres (they look great even on stock wheels). The rest of the car is stock, except for the sound system, which, btw, I plan to upgrade to a DVD system to entertain my younger kids (I have 4 cheildren) on long trips. Now, How does it perform now? Before the upgrade: As I live a few states away from Mexico City and last year i was going there 2 or 3 times a week, I noticed i couldnt pass onthe road cars like the Jetta and i thouth it was ok, but to my surprise, once there was an Accord just like mine which I had a very hard time to keep its pace. When we both stopped for the toll, I lost my breath when I noticed that the rough pilot that was giving me such a hard time (even more on the courves) was a sweet old lady who smiled to me as if she was my grandma! On that same trip, as you may think, I had the upgrade done. After the upgrade: Not even the old '68 Mustang I had on High School gave me the pleasure this upgrade has given to me. The pair of REMUS sound just like music to me. In fact, when I go back to the road, I turn the music off and open all 4 windows so I can enjoy what i hear. The Intake scream combined with the deep, and loud bass coming from the rear make a beatiful experience that I cannot fully describe without writing poetry, and I'm not in the mood to do that right now! Just to let you know, it sounds just great! Now, How does it perform? Really! Well, now I can pass everyone on the road except, again, for the Turbo Audis (A4 and its brothers), and I have lots of fun chasing Beemers (until they really decide to step on the gas). Let me explain something, for those who don't know: Free flow benefits can only be enjoyed at high rpm's because only at that time is when you really need the extra air intake and extra exhaust flow. So if you're driving an automatic one, you'll be benefited because your engine doesnt drop revs when upshifting, so actually you will feel its power more than with an std tranny. More power you need, my young padawan? Try using compressed air instead, name it a turbo or a supercharger. So my next upgrade will be, as logical, a Turbocharger. See ya next time. And sorry I have to cut so abruptly but my younger boy is calling me! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
