Changing oil pan on 94 LHS
brunetp 07-02-2005, 11:43 AM Does anyone know if i am going to have to move the subframe to pull the oil pan out? i am changing it because it's leaking oil from that area, i don't think it's a crank seal, at least it better not be i can imagine the trouble to change that out. ivan355 10-07-2005, 01:28 PM yes, you will have to remove the frame. you must support the engine from the top before removing the frame. ivan brunetp 05-15-2006, 09:26 PM I didn't have to remove the frame, i just unbolted and removed the 2 trany brackets, No need the move anything else, it will come out with some maneuvering Toyrolla 10-07-2006, 03:58 PM brunetp, I'm about to change the oil pan gasket in my father-in-law's 96 New Yorker which has the 3.5L V6. The replacement part I'm using is a Felpro gasket (Part OS34212R) w/ the windage tray. *See pic below* I understand about removing the tranny bolts and it will come out with some maneuvering. Aside from that, I would like to know a few things from you; if you don't mind: 1. As per the repair manual (Chilton 20360), I am to apply a 1/8" bead of sealer at the parting line of the oil pump body and the rear seal retainer. Where is this located? Also aside from that area that I described, is this the only area where I'm to apply sealant? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking to have this finished for him tomorrow. http://www.partsamerica.com/product_images//img/fel/os34212r.jpg Thanks! wafrederick 10-28-2006, 05:49 PM You do not have to.I have a shortcut and it does work, unbolt the sway link from the frame section, push towards the the transmission.
