Vette car alarms / Battery Drain.Ecordeddie 07-01-2005, 01:51 PM Anyone know why the factory car alarm in a lot of Stingrays causes the battery to go dead? I've got a '79 L82 and I see the alarm is dis-connected from under the shifter plate. The previous owner unhooked to because it was killing the battery. I've talked to a few other owners and know one knows why it drains the battery. Do you know why? :nutkick: audible 07-01-2005, 05:49 PM Not sure. I think the old Vette alarms took more juice than those of today. Is yours the old-school type with the cylinder key in the fender?? :naughty: I would hook it back up and invest in a trickle charger if your car sits for long periods of time...even a week with no use. Audible :smokin: Ecordeddie 07-02-2005, 01:26 PM No side key on the fender. I'm not sure when they stopped putting the key the fender. My friends 74 has it. I've got a charger. I was just wondering if anyone knew why they drained the battery. Not much need for a car alarm where I live so I'd probably never use it anyway. Thanks for the reply...
