2002 Avalanche 1500 5.3L with the "Z" package

Today went to start it and it will only run a few seconds.
Headlights won't turn on. No power to headlight relay.
No dome light.
No light under hood.
Jumpered battery--same conditions.
Fuses look Ok under hood and inside.
Terminals tight.

First, What would keep the headlights off? http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/images/smilies/banghead.gif
With so many different problems, the only common thing I can think of would be a bad ground. Anyone have any ideas?

I would start with cleaning all the battery connections both at the battery and where they connect to the block and starter.

Dealer found the problem, loose wire in the security system shorted out a fuse in the security system. This is somewhere under the steering column.
