A Sad DayHLandin 06-30-2005, 09:50 PM I'm sure by now many of you have come to know my 1990 boxy 9C1 (hint: check my aviatar). Anyways, today I was involved in an accident. The front end of my boxy is bashed in and I don't know yet if it can be repaired. So, I may have to scrap it and buy another Caprice. CD Smalley 06-30-2005, 10:39 PM That sucks man. I assume that you are OK since you are posting. Check out www.kcpolicecars. They have two boxy 9C1s shown on there website for under $2k.... PeteA216 07-01-2005, 01:03 AM How bad is it???? Does it still run? I'd hate ta see another Caprice go to the scrap. This past weekend I went to the junk yard to see about an A/C compressor, and they put all but one of thier Caprices through the car crusher.... even this one white 83 Caprice that literally had nothing wrong with it but the engine. It was really depressing. Anyway, if it can still run, then you're in good shape, front ends, fenders, bumpers, and hoods are still in a decent abundance for the boxys. Keeps us updated as to what you decide (Oh, and to actually get it fixed by a professional is going to be well over $1000. You're best bet is to get the parts needed, prime 'em, get em painetd, and put em on yourself) HLandin 07-01-2005, 02:47 PM Well, the insurance people wrote it off, so no more boxy. Its going to the yard today. I would post some pictures (before and after shots) but I don't know how. I'm fine and she (the other driver) is fine. What really sucks is that it was her fault. The officer responding ruled that she failed to yield the right of way. Brief summary: I was driving west on a 6 lane highway (3 going west, 3 going east). She was going east (opposite direction). The signal light was disabled (light normally goes from green to yellow to red, but it was flashing yellow to the through traffic and the turn lanes were flashing red). She turns left (from her purspective) and enters intersection a second before I entered the intersection. Didn't have time to react (no black streaks) and T-boned her. PeteA216 07-02-2005, 12:51 AM Wow, thats bad. Were you able to drive away from it? (I wouldnt think so, but you never know) I'm also interseted in seeing the pictures if you have them readily available on you computer. If you do, do you think you could send them to me? If you want I can post them for you. My email is: PeterGMC25@aol.com I hope you end up with another Caprice, but whatever you decide, make it GM ;-) 1986Z28 07-02-2005, 02:33 AM :frown: that sucks, i love the caprice PeteA216 07-02-2005, 10:52 PM Thanks for sending me the pictures. Thats really unfortunate... it was a great looking car, and in excellent shape. I almost considered finding out which yard it went to ta pick it up for parts, or possible repair, but then I realized you live kinda far away. Anyway... heres the pictures, so everyone can see. It seemed like a pretty flat surface. 1986Z28 07-02-2005, 11:02 PM Pictures Dont Work PeteA216 07-03-2005, 12:32 AM 1986Z28 07-03-2005, 02:02 AM looks like it would have frame damage HLandin 07-03-2005, 10:39 AM Yeah, it probably did have some frame damage. What I've found out is that you don't realize how much you miss something until you try to replace it. I visited High Performance Motors yesterday. The two boxy caprices they advertised were already sold. Of the rest, only two were in decent shape and they both had their individual flaws. I plan to eventually buy one and clean it all up. When compared to the cars I saw yesterday, my old boxy was really in excellent shape but oh well. The other car was a Volvo. If you want, we can try to post the pictures of it the same way we posted my caprice pictures. fbi-interceptor 07-03-2005, 10:27 PM now you can buy a crown vic interceptor!! PeteA216 07-04-2005, 12:13 AM sure, send me the pictures HLandin 07-04-2005, 12:17 AM 1987 MSP: Crown Vic Interceptor vs. boxy Caprice = Caprice win 1988 MSP: Crown Vic Interceptor vs. boxy Caprice = Caprice win 1989 MSP: Crown Vic Interceptor vs. boxy Caprice = Caprice win 1990 MSP: Crown Vic Interceptor vs. boxy Caprice = Caprice win 1991 MSP: Crown Vic Interceptor vs. boxy Caprice = Caprice win 1992 MSP: Crown Vic Interceptor vs. boxy Caprice = Caprice win 1993 MSP: Crown Vic Interceptor vs. boxy Caprice = Caprice win 1994 MSP: Crown Vic Interceptor vs. boxy Caprice = Caprice win 1995 MSP: Crown Vic Interceptor vs. boxy Caprice = Caprice win 1996 MSP: Crown Vic Interceptor vs. boxy Caprice = Caprice win Well boys, the results are in and it looks like the Caprice won. PeteA216 07-04-2005, 12:41 AM Here we go... damn, the Volvo got it bad.... I hoped it woulda been worse though. Just for that you shoulda went to the other side and finished it off with a bat... Just Kidding ;-) How did it's front end fall off??? Anyway, heres the pictures: http://www.freewebs.com/petea/vol1.JPG http://www.freewebs.com/petea/vol2.JPG http://www.freewebs.com/petea/vol3.JPG HLandin 07-04-2005, 12:48 AM I don't know how it came off. These pictures are after the accident and the Volvo has been turned around (I struck it going from left to right side of picture and hit the car on its right side - see picture). Makes me wonder what it might look like if it had not been a Volvo (because their supposed to be really safe). PeteA216 07-04-2005, 12:51 AM Yeah.... these ol' boxy's are really solid cars, imagine if it was something like a little Geo Metro or something of the sort. 1986Z28 07-04-2005, 01:02 PM Crown Vic Interceptor vs. boxy Caprice = Caprice win Crown Vic Interceptor vs. boxy Caprice = Caprice win Crown Vic Interceptor vs. boxy Caprice = Caprice win Crown Vic Interceptor vs. boxy Caprice = Caprice win Crown Vic Interceptor vs. boxy Caprice = Caprice win Well boys, the results are in and it looks like the Caprice won. very true randy78 07-16-2005, 05:44 AM damn that sux bad well at least youre not hurt ? poor car damn that was a sharp one too :O :( id buy it off ya if you could sell it as is and were close enough hum frame s definitely ruined, look how far back bumper went, frame went with it, so its done for, thats the end of that frame good luck and hope you find another one jsut like it, they are out there but being at the right time at the right place and not when youre broke is the fun part, hum i know all about this, and so do many others., good luck :D vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
