Chrysler Sebring Transmission problems

A friend of mine wants to get a Chrysler Sebring convertible, but she heard that there were certain years that were prone to transmission trouble. She said she heard that they used some experimental compound for some of the parts or something....I'm not sure where she heard this from, but I told her I would see what I could find out. So far I've seen various posts for transmission trouble, but nothing pinpointing any specific years that were known for having problems. Was there a recall on any years of sebrings for transmission problems? Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a bunch!

No recalls that I know of. My wife has a 2000 sebring and the tranny, "knocks on wood", has been running pretty good. Only trouble I had were the Input and Output speed sensors going out on it. Changed them and it is running like a champ. Chrylser actually builds pretty good tranny's but you have to use Mopar fluid. They don't like Dexron or other fluids. Tell your friend to buy the fluid from the dealer and she should be fine.
