Grand Am stalls after warmed up.

I would like to thank any responder in advance for any advice.

First of all the car is a 2000 Grand Am with a 3400 sfi V6. The problem is once in a while it will stall while going down the road. Usually after the car is warmed up.

When this happens the car loses power then stalls, the battery light is the only "idiot light" that comes on. If I let it sit for a minute it will make it farther down the road. Sometimes it will stall out repeatedly, sometimes it won't stall at all.

I had the alternator tested and proved to be okay, the battery seems fine. If I have to guess it seems electrical, possibly a relay getting hot and kicking out- not sure how to go about tracking the problem down.
Diagnostic test came up with nothing since no "check engine" light.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like a dying fuel pump - when it warms up the pump gets tired and has to cool down b4 it can pump again.

It could be several things. As I am having the same problem on my 94 ga with the 3.1, I've replaced all 3 coil packs, replaced the map sensor, even tried a new tps, none of which was the problem. I would first suggest checking out your egr valve. Take it off, and look for any carbon build up in the valley's. If there is build up, try taking the egr apart, and cleaning the pintles all 3 of them with a wire brush, and throttle body cleaner, let it dry for a while first, then put it all back together. That could be one problem. Also would be a good idea while you have the egr valve off take the air breather hose coming from the throttle body to the air breather assembly, and open the throttle wide open, and spray out the throttle body really good. Just remember if you have alot of carbon build up, you will see debree coming out. It would be a good idea to take out the spark plugs, and crank the car for a minute to let debree blow out that did not come out the throttle body. I done that w/o taking the spark plugs out, and one of them had alot of carbon debree, and was completely closed. Hope that helps. Worth a shot before spending any money one it, and it not be the problem.
