That's the plan d16y8 into my girlfriends '92 civic cx, is this swap going to be easy ? should I just swap the engine/tranny and ecu for less complications? and pionters will help?................thx.

I swapped in a D16a6 into my 92 HB cx. Used the stock tranny and ecu. went in with out much problem. I would suggest a stock (new) clutch though, i used a Clutch Specialties 6puck unsprung, not the best clutch application for this setup.

Haha who'd a thunk it?

That swap won't be that hard, a couple differences here and there, the wiring is going to be lame. Use your CX injectors, get a D16Z6 distibutor, and wire the four wire o2 in.

That's what happens when you try to go cheap!! Just givin' my experience.

I've got the D16a6 block/head (SRP 8.5:1 comp pistons and Eagel H Beam rods and stock head) with a Z6 intake manifold and i will be upgrading to tuner toys 550 injectors. Got a T3/T4 Garrett turbo ready to go on, a ceramic coated turbo header with a chipped P06 ecu w/ uberdata for management and a big ass Custom made FMIC (3 dsm sidemounts welded together).

to swap the y8 in ull need to convert to obd-II or if ur cx block is good do a mini me. just swap the head onto ur cx block and put the y8 tranny instead of ur cx tranny and get an ecu from a d16z6 and wire up vtec(3 wires) and ur good to go.

It's simpler to convert to OBD I.

i dont think you can use the d16y8 with obd I though... its an OBD2 engine... buy yeah... ill just shhh cause im sure you know what your talking about... i really dont..lol but i would get a different tranny too... your stock one will work but your gears are much longer..shorter is better...lol

Yeah jcrx is right, OBD1 would be best. And he already explained 1 way to do it (plus I believe he'd need to switch the voltage regulators in the alternators?); that'd be the easiest route.

Well seeing as how any engine is an improvement over the stock CX engine (70hp), it's not a bad little swap to get 57 more hp. Or maybe the stock engine blew :dunno: I doubt it's going to be made into a "performance car"; but slap on a turbo kit and it'd be quick (very possibly quicker than a b16a swap).

no it won't be a performance vehicle, i'm just using this as an excuse to empty out by engine bay in my 96 civic si for a b18......oh yeah.
