93 GC 4.0 - where is Orifice Tube ?micallen 06-28-2005, 12:46 PM I have new compressor and orifice tube. Accumulator should be here tomorrow. Where does the orifice tube go ???? Also, do I vacuum the system before or after replacing the parts ? Thanks, Micallen Midasgirl 06-28-2005, 01:07 PM The fixed orfice tube is located in the liquid line near the condenser. Not sure about the vacuum though... Zabrina SteveB05 06-29-2005, 04:56 AM The orifice tube is in the metal line that goes from the condensor to the evaporator, pushed into the evaporator side. You need to evacuate before replacing parts (pull all of the freon out) and then put the system in a vac after replacement. You'll want to keep it in a vac for at least 30 minutes. micallen 06-29-2005, 11:35 AM How are the A/C hoses attached to the tubes sticking out of the accumulator ? Are they crimped on ? Does that mean I need to now order A/C hoses ?? SteveB05 06-30-2005, 05:20 PM No...it will be in the end of the tube that has the spring-lock fitting. You will need a specail tool for that, but they are inexpensive. You will also want to replace the spring-lock o-rings...preferably all of them on the evaporator and condensor. Your drier assembly should have new o-rings for the compressor block. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
