I have a 1994 Econoline conversion van with a 302 5.0L v-8 with automatic transmission. Everytime I drive the van for a couple of miles the light of the overdrive button on the shifter blinks on and off. How can I fix this? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

The overdrive light flashing means that there is a problem in your tranny. Go get it checked while its still running ok. I ignored mine and ended up with a $1500 bill for a tranny rebuild.

I checked for electronic codes using a ford scanner that I bought at WalMart. It returned two coded involving the transmission. Transmission problem shifting from 1st to 2nd and from 3rd to 4th. Erased codes and problem solved. Also changed transmission oil and filter and used Trans-X, which is a tranmission oil additive, and van is running MUCH smoother.

I took basically the same action, but it only bought me a few months.

Another problem that I found was that the metal trans cooler lines rub against each other and the frame where they go between the oil pan and the front suspension. By about 100,000 miles they were both worn to where they were leaking. It does not leak much sitting still, but when the motor is running, look out. The only way I noticed it was from tran fluid staining on the side of the trans and on frame cross members.
