The color may change very slightly when it dries and you clear, which is why you spray a test piece and wait for it to dry to check match. When the base has dryed for about an hour you can wet it with a little water and look at it while its still wet to kinda give an idea what it will be like with clear. I think your color is most likely off though. It has to be a perfect match if you paint just a panel without blending. If it is pretty close it can be blended into adjacent panels. Main panel you would want to blend into in your application is the door. Mismatch won't be quite as noticeable between the trunk in quarter if it pretty close, but when you have two large panels right next to one another it will be really noticeable. If it is close, I would sand the quarter down with 400 to 500 wet, and the rear of the door where you will be blending, and the rest of the door with 1000 grit wet. Then spray the color on the quarter and a little ways into the door, gradually blending a little farther in the door. Then clear the door and quarter panel. If the color is too far off for blending, I would take a piece of the car with you to match and go back to the place that mixed it for you and see if they can tint it to match. You should always bring something to match when you are getting paint mixed up and not painting the whole car. Then they can pick the closest varience to the paint code for match. Each color has a main formula and several alternates they can choose from.
