PICTURE: Caprice BurnoutPeteA216 06-27-2005, 02:34 AM Ok, heres the situation. As most of you know, I've got an '84 Caprice, w/ the 305 4bbl carb, etc etc. I've got new tires ready to put on the car, along with a new tranny. So, I decided before I put it all in, might as well finish off the old tires (and not worry about what happens to the tranny). I've got a video of it, but I cant find a server thats fast enough to play it, so I've posted a picture for now. When I get the video available I'll post it too. What do you guys think? (And people told me it couldn't do it) http://www.freewebs.com/petea/capriceburnout.JPG kahjdh 06-27-2005, 03:31 AM good condition for an 84, do u have any engine mods? PeteA216 06-27-2005, 09:25 AM Not anymore. I had dual exhaust, but the weld broke that connects it to the catylitic converter on the second pipe, so I brought it back to stock again until I can find someone to weld it back up for me. The only thing I've really done to the engine was put a high voltage coil on it. (suppodedly better fuel economy. I didnt notice anything) PeteA216 06-30-2005, 12:10 AM Just today I put a 40 series Flowmaster muffler on the car.... not much of a sound difference (sounds meaner, but not loud) but theres a definite improvement in acceleration, especially at high RPMs. I'd recommend this to anybody, it doesnt make your car very much louder, but theres a significant increase in power. fbi-interceptor 07-03-2005, 10:10 PM buy a real car get a crown vic interceptor! that car is ugly to the bone!!!!!!!! HLandin 07-04-2005, 12:31 AM See post about real cars. PeteA216 07-04-2005, 01:10 AM Whats with you and the Crown Victoria's??? Yeah, I know my car isnt the best lookin' thing in the world, and I'd love ta get it painted, but why would I downgrade to a P.O.S. Ford?? Thats like trading in a military Hummer for a golf cart. I mean c'mon man! Should I bring up the Pinto? And not to mention the '96 Caprice bein' a lot quicker than the Mustang. If I want something thats gonna leave me stranded 400+ times a year, and thats gonna be fatal in an accident if I back into an empty garbage carbage can, then sure, I'll get a Ford, but until then I think I'll stick to something thats a little less of a P.O.S. Besides, what are you doing in the Caprice area anyway??? 91Caprice9c1 07-15-2005, 04:33 PM I put a 40-series flowmaster on my 91 caprice w/ a cat delete and shortened exhaust pipe (single exhaust) and it's louder than hell. I think the cats put a real damper on the volume of the exhaust (particularly oem cats). unfortunately im gunna have a new cat installed... because in calif. we have smog :-( PeteA216 07-15-2005, 11:45 PM we have smog here in NY too, but they dont check the exhaust levels on cars as old as this because no matter how good the car's running, it'll never pass. :-P SVT-5LITER 08-12-2005, 10:38 PM Lol... hubcaps and all. I had a '77 Caprice w/a 305 2-bbl. and I could NOT get *the* tire to spin to save my life. That thing ran awesome, just no power what so ever. burnM 08-13-2005, 03:36 AM Nice ride Pete, nice burnout too... You don't have a sound clip of your exhaust, do you? I'm having trouble deciding between a Flowmaster, a Dynomax, or a Vortech muffler. I'm leaning toward the Vortech 'cause they just sound so sweet, but it's also the most expensive. Flowmaster costs half as much, and it's all steel with no wadded up crap in it. But every car around here with a Flowmaster just sounds a little too loud to me. Do you REALLY like the sound of it, or do you think you might have gone with something else? I'm just looking for opinions from everyone with an aftermarket exhaust. I'm driving everyone nuts.. I don't want to plunk down the cash before I'm sure what to get. PeteA216 08-13-2005, 10:04 AM The 40 series flowmaster I have isnt very loud at all, but it has a really nice sound to it. It also comes with a 1 million miles warrantee. I really really like how it sounds, and I've gotten many comments on how throaty it makes my engine sound. I'll record it for you and post a link to it sometime today. G-man422 08-13-2005, 10:14 AM SWEET! way to prove'em wrong. 1986Z28 08-13-2005, 12:15 PM sweet burnout PeteA216 08-13-2005, 11:24 PM I tried recording the muffler today, but I just sampled it tonight and it came out really bad, I'm gonna try again tomorrow, and try to get it up as soon as possible. Thanks guys! PeteA216 08-14-2005, 07:54 PM Ok, heres the link to hear my muffler: Flowmaster Caprice Sound (http://www.freewebs.com/petea/exhaustsound.MP3) SVT-5LITER 08-17-2005, 10:18 PM There's different 'chambers' for Flowmaster mufflers. 3-chamber are the most quiet. 2-chamber (being the most popular) are a great street/strip sounding muffler. 1-chamber mufflers are for race cars w/power. The sound for either of the first two will also vary depending on what you have for cats and pre-cats. Fords go nutty with pre-cats, and restrict the piss out of the exhaust. I like my old school Cobra, came with 2 cats & 2 pre-cats, none of which are on now. Off-road H all the way, and being that it's an older computer (pre OBD II), no CEL to worry about. It's a classic Mustang sound. ddax 08-18-2005, 09:20 PM That sounds sweet Pete - I'll have to look into that for my sons '83. I'll have to post a pic of the car after we get the Cragar's on. He wants Cragar S/S (6" front and 8" rear) on a black '83 4-door. PeteA216 08-18-2005, 10:47 PM Thanks! The muffler actually sounds much better in real life as opposed to a recording. I'm really happy with it. Mira_cz 08-20-2005, 10:03 AM I have one image too. This car looks like coffin with flames ;) http://koti.mbnet.fi/bamn/jokilaiva.jpg beat88ls 08-20-2005, 11:54 AM that sounds awesome, now i know for sure what ill put on my car  PeteA216 08-20-2005, 11:14 PM Wow!
