leaking fuel on drivers side from a black canisterchicksmom 06-26-2005, 10:25 PM :uhoh: my husband just purchased a 1981 chevy corvette and have been having problems with rough idleing and rpm's going up and down. he noticed air getting in around the gasket to the carburetor and we replaced it today. so he took it for a test run and it is leaking fuel from a black canister on the drivers side close to the windshield in the corner near the bottom of the car. He cant find out any information on what this part is. Any one have any idea's? I have gotten very good information on this site and I just know there is someone out there that can help us! thanks alot in advance for any help. audible 06-27-2005, 04:31 PM :eek7: THE CANISTER YOU SPEAK OF SOUNDS LIKE A CHARCOL CANISTER. A TYPE A SMOG DEVICE?? IF THERE IS FUEL COMING OUT OF THERE AND IT WAS NOT BEFORE YOU REPLACED THE GASKET I WOULD PULL THE CARB AGAIN(USE A CORVETTE SHOP MANUAL) AND REDO IT STEP BY STEP. FIRST SEE IF THERE IS A WAY TO DRAIN THAT CANISTER TO AVOID COMBUSTION/INJURY. LET US KNOW YOU OUTCOME. I will post back when we get it back and let you know how it is doing. thanks again. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
