How to get a battery cable thru the firewall into the cab

I have another question...i went and picked up an amp yesterday and was wondering if there was a hole or a plug that i could pull to run a battery cable for the amp....b/c on my old car ('94 cavi) we had to drill a hole thru it....maybe ya'll could help me out once again....thx!

You may have to drill a hole again, but depending on the size of the wire you are running to the amp, you may be able to force it through one of the existing rubber gromets that other wires and/or cables are running through. In the past I have been able to get a long thin screw driver through a gromet and looking undre the dash to find the driver end, I then taped the wire to the driver end and pulled it back through into the engine compartment. If you try the screw driver method, check the area under the dash where you think the driver may come through. Make sure there are no wires or anything that could be damaged in the way.

well its like 10 ga wire...u think it'll work w/o drilling?

Thats going to have to be drilled. If you force it through a grommet, it will probably tear, and they are a pain to repair.

i actually drilled my hole for my 4 guage wire on the passenger side.. i ran the power cable up and by the window motors.. and through where the passengers foot would be and went under the carpet there..

Like ski says there is a chance that the gromet will tear, however I have been able to do it with out tearing, I have had to use a lubricant such as liquid dish soap to ease through the gromet (Not a lot just a drop or two). It's going to have to be your choice. We used to do it quite often when I worked for a automotive accessory installation place, we would run our power line from the battery to the relay fo an add-on rear window defroster. If you decide to drill make sure you seal the hole around the wire and make sure that the wire can't rub on the edge of the hole and expose the wire through the insulation. Again I can only tell you what I used to do you will have to figure out which way is going to best suite your project.

Man i took off my whole dashboard, cut a hole in a gromet, and then forced the 4 gage wire through with a coat hanger. Did the same thing for my neon wires.

I ran about a 2 gauge wire throught the firewall by drilling a hold around the driverside, after i did that, i put a gromit on it then used a TON of flowable silicone to make sure no water got in. worked great.

what about a 99 ga se....any ideas...wire will be 4ga.

if u slice the fromet big enough u will b able to get a 4G wire in there. I got a 4G and alot of 18G wire going in and outta that gromet.
