I have a 94 Transport 3.8 that won't start. I have fire,45psi of fuel at the rail and it has compression. Iwas going to read codes but unable to because it has an obd 1 connecter but it does'nt have the B termnal. I bought a GM code scaner at autozone but it will not work ethier. When I plug the scanner in the check engine just stays on. Any help will be appreciated.

For most 94 and 95 3.8, you canīt use the paper clip trick to pull out the codes by flashing the CEL. I guess your code scanner is something cheap for 25$, and is working the same way, trying to flash the codes out. You need a more sofisticated scanner, that can read the 8192 baud OBDI data stream. You can also get an interface, (build it yourself or buy it) and use software from
www.pontiac-transsport.de
in a laptop.
With this software you can read out more data from the engine, tranny and the ABS system, and not only pull out the codes.

check the harmonic balancer. They are a common problem on your engine, and when they separate, they throw your timing off to the point the engine won't run.
