Hello, I am new here and a new (used) malibu classic owner that of course has the 4cyl and has 19,000 miles. I just went through my first tank of gas and checked my gas mileage and got under 20mpg. I started reading threads here about gas mileage and was going to post to see what people were getting in this one. I decided to check the air filter (which I probably should have done in the first place) and found what appears to be a rats nest under the filter. It was full of pieces of leaves and other stuff. So I cleaned it out and went ahead and replaced the fiter. I will be interested to see what kind of mileage I get now.

I just thought I would post this to intorduce myself to the community and say I appreciate all the info here. I will checking the threads for info regularly. I thought It would also be good for a laugh and recommend checking for rats nest's if you are getting bad gas mileage.:)

Judging from the problems in the posts I have seen here I hope I don't regret getting it.:(

I'm still only getting about 20mpg with mostly freeway and some city driving. Not very good at all for what this car is supposed to be rated at.
