need advise on tranny and possible motor swapneedlesksv 06-20-2005, 09:46 PM Hey fellas, I have an 1988 pickup custom/crew cab 4x4 longbed. For those who are not familiar with this, I believe they were only made in 1988 and all where manual. The cab is a "crew" cab which makes the car longer. I bought the car for my father. The problem is he can't drive an manual (he prefers autos), so I was wondering what do I need to do a manual to automatic tranny swap? Will the driveshaft bolt up (because it's longer). It's kinda funny really, because everyone wants to change from auto to manual and I'm trying to do the opposite. Also, I'm thinking about doing the turbo 22r conversion or a v6 conversion (using a toyota v6). What years and model toyota v6 will drop in without custom engine and tranny mounts (I'm trying to stay within the toyota family and plan to keep the engine in stock form, not trying to build a crawler so domestics are out of the question). I've done an sr20det into a 240sx conversion before and many honda swaps so I'm not exactly a newbie, just not familiar with toyotas. I know that rewiring will be a must, so if anyone have any info pertaining to either the manual to auto tranny swap or engine swaps please direct me to the right place. Thanks a lot. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
