Hi all,
I just recently bought a used 93 Grand AM GT. My question is, has anyone converted the rear brakes from drum to disk? Information on conversions and performance parts in general seem to be rather scarce.

Throughout the whole GM family, it seems they put drum brakes on all these body type

I am drawing blanks at the usual spots ie. Jegs, Summit, etc...

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I imagine it is a lot of conversion, and posible that no one makes the conversion kit for it. Have you tried a surf of AF's search function? Something might be around farther back in the various posts of the various forums that might at least head down some path.

All i get at Manapart.com is a search engine. Nothing about Brake conversion kits.

This is what mantapart sells for what you want, I'm curious if it's even worth the expense

OP 1831R 10.5" Rear Disk Brake Converison: This conversion is the best way to remove weight and improve the overall braking power and balance. This kit includes rotors, calipers and mounting brackets, all hardware, and lines to install the rear brakes. Kit to mount to stock rear wheel bearings, but we recommend the H.D. rear hub bearing conversions if more serious competition use is planned. Calipers available with or without emergency brake provisions.

OP 1831RS Stock Wheel Bearing Kit $850.00
OP 1831RC For H.D. Wheel Bearing $1,000.00
OP 1831RSE Stock Bearing & Emergency Brakes $950.00
OP 1831RCE For H.D. Wheel Bearing, & Emergency Brake $1,100.00

Yeah, that's a lot of cash, for a conversion that doesn't really do all that much, except for racing applications.

OK, what about other GM N bodies? Are they all rear drum.
I agree that is a lot of cash for a conversion.
