Friends,
I have a 95 Taurus where the transmission jerks from 1st to 2nd.
If I accelerate slowly it does not jerk!
Fluid is full; color clear red; smell of fluid is fine. But I have no idea when the filter and fluid was last changed. Would a tranmission filter and fluid refill help remedy this?
Any ideas?

Yes I had a 97 with the same problem and replaced fluid and filter. Took care of the problem for a while. The problem was however that I had waited way too long to change it so I changed fluid and filter again and put in some Lucas Transmission Stabilizer that you can buy at advanced auto parts and now have put on more than 40000 miles with no problems.
