The car has a new transmission about 6 months old. Transmission is slipping, dash guages are not working. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

When the fluid was put it, did you find out what fluid is in there? All Chrysler transmissions are supposed to use Mopar ATF +4, if not, you'll experience transmission problems. Try that first.

We haven't checked that yet but will do that. I think it may have something to do with the steering column?? Is that possible? If you wiggle the ignition the transmission, dash lights and guages seem normal. My husband took it apart but is unsure exactly which part to take off.

If your speedometer is not working, and your not going above 1st or 2nd gear in your trans, then the problem more than likely is in the speed sensor. I'm having the same problem as of now, I can't tell u exactly where it is, but i know it's somewhere near the Tranny. How this helps.

Had this problem with my Sebring convertible.

I replaced the TCM, & while changing I noticed the connector was loose & had corrosion. I was upgrading to autostick anyways. I noticed a couple of grounds under the hood in the trans area were corroded. Cleaned everything up & all is well.
Check the connector on the transmission itself as well.
