EGR valve - do I have one??Robert Wardski 06-16-2005, 08:31 PM Hello, I have a 1992 Buick Regal limited with a 3.8 liter multiport fuel injection. I have been unable to locate the EGR valve. A mechanic told me it does not have one, anyone know for sure?? I have a shop manual and can find no mention of one. I am asking because my gas mileage seems low & was told the EGR could be the cause and yes, I have no codes and have replaced the oxygen sensor. The engine runs like new with no problems and just turning 100K miles thanks for any help. 88Regal Custom 06-17-2005, 10:28 PM i do belive your car has one i think they are like catilitic converters a major part of emissions systems i will check into it further..... 88Regal Custom 06-17-2005, 10:36 PM No you DON'T have a EGR Valve the chlitons manual said the 1991-1992 3.8 engines don't use a EGR Valve, try changing the- Air,Fuel Filter, plugs and wires and check your tire pressure to improve your gas milage....Good Luck sirgeoff 12-02-2005, 01:07 PM No you DON'T have a EGR Valve the chlitons manual said the 1991-1992 3.8 engines don't use a EGR Valve, try changing the- Air,Fuel Filter, plugs and wires and check your tire pressure to improve your gas milage....Good Luck The 1991 Regal most certainly has an EGR valve 91RegalOwner 12-02-2005, 04:31 PM I have a 91 regal with a similar problem. i used to get great mileage but now i maybe get 350km to a tank (55L) (Hiway/city driving). I have changed plugs, wires, and fuel filter. checked the codes and got 66, 26 and 39. i don't know if any of those cause poor fuel economy but I will have to do more research on it. I think there may be more codes but I have to recheck. How do you know if cat converter is bad? I will change oxy sensor just for kicks to see if that helps. Is there anything else I can do?
