Cold engine bogging down when releasing clutch?

OK guys, I have a new one for everyone...The car is my (or should I say it is now my wife's) Grand Am GT, 5 speed, 2.4L Quad 4 with about 117,000 miles. This morning I ran to get gas in the car (outside temp is @ 65 degrees) the car started fine, idled fine, reved up fine, but when I began to pull out letting out the clutch slowly at approx. 1/4 to 1/2 travel the engine started to shut down, I immediatly pushed in the clutch and gave it gas after acting as if it was loaded up with gas it then started to clear up and the RPM came up. If I reved up the engine it reacted fine, let out the clutch again...same thing, after repeating this several times the car began to run as if nothing was wrong. My wife said that this had happened to her on several different occations (maybe 3 times), I can not determine if it is electrical or fuel related, but I kind of think that if it was a fuel pump or filter it would not have recovered as quick as it does. If anyone has any suggestions for me (keep it nice Knife) please let me know. I do not know if it would have completely died if I would not have pushed in the clutch, but it sure seemed like it would liked to.
Thanks Everyone...
Dan
