I have a 1998 2.7L Intrepid, That runs great engine wise, but yesterday when i pulled out of my driveway I realized that is was not shifting out of 2nd gear, and the speedometer is not working. If I jump on it and run it up to about 5k RPM's then the speedometer starts to work off and on. And regardless of what spped I get it up to when I slow down to come to a stop the car just stalls, But will start right back up fine and sit there and Idle. I was wondering if anyone whould know why the transmisson would due this.

your transmission is in "limp mode" meaning that if there is an electrical fault in the transmission, it defaults to second gear. Chances are, the symptom you are describing is a faulty output speed sensor, which controls the speedometer function. Just to be on the safe side, you can go to any auto part store and have them put your car on a scanner and pull up the trouble code (if you have a check engine light).

buy your self and input and output sensor and install them on the trans with a 1" socket. that should fix it. Your speedo does not work because the computer used these two senors to calculate speed and shift points

The two sensors are known to go out at 42K miles , its not as easy as it sounds, as you must reflash the computer codes- I had the dealer do it, plus change the oil and filter- adjust bands, and reflash the codes- $185.00 bucks- The sensors cost about $24.00 each. A Chrysler Tranny is nothing to fool around with- Service may cost a few bucks but it beats hell out a a new one.
