:uhoh: we had some really high winds and small hail. some point when i was driving home in it something cracked the windshield and chipped it up. and it also chipped the front on my hood, grill insert, grill, and my mirrors. gotta see what the insurance says in a few days.

Shit, that really sucks. Glad you're insured, they should take care of everything, though

Yeah, my deductible on my truck is $500. I've been thinking about getting that lowered.

I recently did some insurance shopping and doubled my coverage, lowered the deductibles, and saved $25 a month. And NO it was not Geico....

i am pretty sure that it will cover anyything on my truck. i will soon find out. they better cover all of it. do most companys have you get a few quotes then just cut you a check for the amount or do they just pay to get it fixed at the shop. just wondering what other people experiences have been?

I hope your policy will cover aftermarket equipment. Most insurance companies will only cover OEM parts. Thats how they like to steal more of our money, to charge us extra for add-ons. Luckily though most OEM parts are more expensive than aftermarket.

I went to my ins rep and made him take a picture of my truck. He says as is where ever it tkaes to get the parts, tonneau, grille, running borads, tool box inside, etc. Now hope I don't have to test him.....

Sounds like you got a pretty good agent and insurance company. Who do you use

When I started driving in high school I had three accidents in the first two years and Farmers said never in my life time would I ever get insurance from them again. Almost twenty years later I am paying some of the best rates around Tx. No tickets in 4 years. Oh yea, take the radar detector out before you get in their parking lot.

well they gave me and estimate was almost 2000 dollars and they wrote me a check for 1700 today. they did cover my grill and said they acted like all my accesories would be covered. he checked all over. i like my company, gave me the quote then cut me a check and said take it to any shop you want and if it goes over the quote contact them, and they said i can order my own parts and do my own work and save money. it was almost 1000 in parts and 1000 in labor.

I use Progressive.com. You can select coverage for aftermarket parts if you wish. Whenever I shop around, this company seems lowest. Just my :2cents:

Wife had that when we met and she had an " InciDENT with a stationary object," post in bumper for cost of $750. Next month after check cut her rates doubled with Progressive, my interpritation "Progressively higher rates..."

That sucks. It's all a scam anyway.

That's odd though...we called my wife's last car the dent magnet, as it seemed to attract normally stationary objects to move suddenly and strike the sheet metal. Metal rods and chunks of broken concrete coming out of nowhere. By the time we sold it, everything but the trunk lid had been repaired and repainted after 3 visits to the body shop. She sold it because it felt "jinxed". However, our rates never increased. When we both got new vehicles and shopped around, it was downright amazing how much lower that company was. Doing everything on line is a big plus also.

It's funny, but my insurance rates on my old '90 Prelude with liability ONLY were higher than on my '02 Silverado with full coverage. Of course, I did change insurance companies. BTW, my Prelude insurance was with Liberty Mutual (they DID give me the best rate I could find on that car), and my Silverado is insured with Geico.

I have State Farm and they are now using a policy that I have to take my truck to a hail repair place not a real body shop. I'm a little nervous about that. My wifes Altima has hail damage as well.

Has anyone worked with any of the hail repair places? Do they do quality work or should I fear my paint popping in a year?
