I am betting that the car is equipped with the Infinity Sound System.

I have heard that some of the newer head units will actually disable the Power Antenna lead when the CD Player is in use but will be enabled when playing the radio because after all, you don't need the antenna to play a CD. This is all fine and good BUT! Chrysler cars with Power Antenna's installed (may not apply to you) also have that lead hooked up to the Infinity Amplifier to turn it on and off as well as raising and lowering the antenna. Your Radio should also have an "Amplifier Remote" lead for controlling an External Amplifier's on and off functions, substitute your Power Antenna Lead for the Amplifier Remote lead in the harness connection (DO NOT hook both Power Antenna and Amplifier Remote leads together, you may damage the radio. And be sure to tape off the bare wires of the Power Antenna Lead after removing.) and you should be all good.

i checked it does not have an infinity system. i recently put an amp and 2 12's. when i play cd's now i get sound from yhe subs and thats it. the amp i put on plugs into 2 audio cables in the back of the stereo. i think i need a wiring diagram for the cars original stereo and this new one

The new one should be in the installation manual you got with the radio, if you used a harness kit to plug into the factory harness then the wiring legend for the kit should be on it's instructions. You also should have a wiring legend on a label of the factory radio or it may be stamped into the metal case of the unit. If all else fails you might want to get with a professional car stereo system installer to help sort it out.
