OK, ever since I've gotten this car its been a bitch with the overheating. Ive had the radiator repaired, leaky gaskets fixed, heater hoses replaced, and the thermostat housing replaced. Just recently I had the thermostat replaced because I was experiencing a major overheating problem like there was no flow of antifreez. The waterpump was tested and it works just fine. Yet when the engine is running idle it runs a bit above 220. It stays normal as you drive it though. What could possibly be the problem this time?

Check for flow through your heater core. If the heater blocks up the car will overheat, its one of GM's wonderful designs. My 95 was doing the same thing last summer, spent 2 hours taking the bottom of the dash apart to change the heater core.

Another possible, does the electric fan kick in around 200? Could be faulty Coolant Temp. Sensor. Does the heater core blow out heat? Like Ski says, GM cores aren't the greatest design, a good radiator flush might "unblock" the core.
