Sup fella's

I tried doing a search on this topic but couldnt find info on this exact rim and drop combo. I have a 99 Eclipse Spyder and I'm considering purchasing a set of chrome rims size 18x8 40mm w/ 225 40 18 tires and droppin the whip by about 1.2-1.3 inches. Will it rub?

Please get back to me.

Thanks

You guys have been really great.

Look on vfaq. 18x8 is a bit much, the offset will determine whether or not that can fit. You have to fit it between the suspenison knuckle and the fender. Usually, pushing it farther out is the answer, but check vfaq's offset guide to be sure. Also recognize that rims of that size will slow you down with their large inertial mass. Look more into 17x8 for autocross work, and into 17x7 for daily driving.

Toicy4ya, put your info in your sig already :)

the 18" will fit even with a 3-4" drop, it's the width that you'll have to worry about on your application. 18x8 is pretty wide so that should be your only worry.

Yeah they wont rub at all. Look at my car... 4" drop and i have some 18"s and still no rub... even when i turn it wont rub. So you should be fine.

i measured it and i think its 18" x 8" or 18" x 8.5" between there. and the tires are Pirelli p7000 225/40/18.

Hella, check your rear knuckles, I have the same setup, You could be wearing a nice flat spot on the end of your ture the whole way around. I am down to the reinforcement stuff, which is why I am in need of some new wheels.

Well i think it rear knuckles are trimmed off. I had a guy install a custom camberkit. Even the front wheels are trimmed off too. He made some custom spacers for my rear so now i dont rub at all. The only think i think i rub on is the rear fender... that metal trimming that is sticking out on the bottom of the fender. Ill post up pictures of my custom camberkit.
