Alright, I installed my Nelson tuned PCM on June 1, 2005. Here is a graph showing my MPG (I use gasbuddy.com to track my info). This is ALL city driving.

As you can see I've already gotten around 1 MPG increase here, which I expect to increase later. I was having some timing issues up until just a couple days ago, which Allen corrected. I expect the MPG will get better now that the timing issue is resolved. Also, I've had a pretty heavy foot since installing the tuned PCM. It's just that crazy!for those of you who like numbers, here's this:

Aint it great? I gotta get my tune updated for my cats being cut off and other crap. I want to get a shift kit still so I'm waiting to do it all so I can get the PCM swap 1 time.

I noticed by your gas buddy report - that you do an awful lot of fillups that are only 3, 5, 6, 8 gallons at a time - one right after the other. Any reason why your 26 gallon truck needs so many small fillups?

I buy gas when I can find it cheap. No idea what it's gonna do tomorrow, so get it while the gettin's good. Like today, I bought less than 2 gallons because i just happened to be at BJ's warehous and they had cheap gas. Also, it doesn't hurt as bad to make several small fill ups, as opposed to one $55 fill up. Also, I hate being in a time crunch to get somewhere only to realize I have to stop and get gas.

Greetings Blender - I hesitate to suggest it - but have you ever considered that less start-stop gas fillups might actually improve your mileage :smile:

Perhaps only marginally. I wonder if a Suburban gas tank will swap onto these trucks? That would make my life easier.

Greetings Blender. I'm confused what a Suburban gas tank would do for you. Your truck should already have a 26 gallon one. In many cases - your purchase pattern indicates you could easily fill up about once instead of three times or four times - and still have plenty of margin of error. Its not my business - but I normally feel that the less times that I put that pump handle into my tank - the better. I'm not talking about running it down to empty - but certainly your time, effort, and on/off start/stops have to be worth something. I'm starting to think maybe the idea of a cute girl at the station is making ALOT more sense at this point :smile:

Late model Suburbans have a 32 gallon tank, I think. Also, I am married. Not only that but I never go in the station. Pay at the pump, yo!

When you got your Nelson did you get the 87 octane or the high octane tune. Was the timing problems solved by sending a new pcm or what? How was it solved? Im thinking of getting it done the next couple weeks then driving back home to Washington State. I was planning on getting it done about a week before I left, to give it time for things to work out I'd hate to get 1000 miles away and start having any types of prob.

I got an 87/89 dual tune. Allen had some tricks for me to try to start with, but they did not seem to cure the problem. Georgia (where I live) gas seems to be a little substandard I think, because this truck has detonated since the day I got it, and they're supposed to run fine on 87 octane. Allen sent me out a new PCM earlier this week, with less timing. He said this should do the trick for me.
