I was wondering since most the stories on here are light to light races or from rolling on the highway if any of you have raced for money? If so post the story.

Yeah, only once, only did it becuase I knew I was gonna walk the guy. Stock mid 90's Civic with a fart can, talking shit about BMWs, told him to put his money where his mouth was. Raced for fity bucks (all I had on me at the time), walked him, took the money, paid for my gas, and to be a real asshole (I was in one of those moods that night), I tossed him back hwat I had left over after filling up, telling him I don't need *his* money, and that he should keep it, so he can, eventually make his car fast. He was mad, I had a free tank of gas.

Lieing ass!! You drag race at a track don't ya?? You pay an entry fee, then run for a certain amount of money don't ya (surely you dont just go for test and tuning)?. That's racing for money! LOL.

I race for money every weekend, only its not on a street nor in a street car, lol. I pay $40 for a chance at $1000.

don't have the money to race for money :grinno:

why not ?
I've only done for small amounts of cash.
I'd go for more if anyone was trustworthy or had the cash to put up.

I do it for the fun, but for a tank of gas or a bag of chips why not spice it up.

Can't say i've lost money but doesn't mean it can't happen.

Racing for pinks? Well... you just have to watch fast and the furious until your ready. Seriously though, i've never raced for money, and I won't race until I get my Volvo.

I've watched it more than enough. I remember like all the timing whenever anybody says something without looking at the screen. Watched it 180+ times......when I was, uhh....14. Lol...I still like the movie though, it cracks me up, although most of the stuff they do don't happen in real life.

Well... I was talking to a honda guy once that told me he won 20,000 over the weekend with his civic, but his civic could never beat my american muscle... I think he was refering to my porsche. Its really scary how little he knew about cars. Thats how the honda guys get a bad reputation.

Actually, so far all I have gone to is test 'n tunes. I don't race much really. Haven't had the time recently, plus with the car being basicly down.
I also am nowhere near consistent enough to bracket race it, and it isn't fast enough for win any pure speed contests, so......

Never really saw the point in racing for money and such. I've always thought the point of racing was to have fun and get the adrenaline rush.

Well since I'm drunk...this guy I knew and was kinda friends with just got a 2002 mustang GT 5-speed convertible...he was talking all kinds of shit about how his car was faster than mine (and it was) and I wasn't about to take that shit...so I told him I'd race him for 100 bucks and that was that...I knew my car was slower, I just counted on him fucking up in the race because he'd only had the car a week...so being the smart guy that he is, he put the date for the race 2 weeks from when we settled on it, which gave him 2 weeks to practice his 1-2-3 shifting...needless to say, he shifted perfectly when he raced me and I was $100 lighter...the very next race he lines up against a five-oh and misses the 1-2 shift...I was pissed beyond belief...the moral of the story is...don't race a car that is faster than yours for money...the end.

I raced for money once in my life.

I was in my bone stock A4 WS6 and this guy in a similar year (2000) Camaro pulled up along side me at a light. He had a few decent mods on the car, headers, programmer, and some kind of aftermarket exhaust.

Anyway, he wanted to race and I agreed to. Well he had a standard and wasn't a great driver, and he ended up pulling me by about maybe two carlengths. After he won he was talking mad shit and just being a prick in general. I asked him where he was headed to which he replied that he was meting a few friend's at McDonald's for food. At this point he was cocky and I knew it, so I asked if he wanted to race again for a tank of gas. He said sure.

I told him I would meet him at McDonald's in about 10 minutes becuase I had to make short trip home.

To make an already long story shorter, I went home, got my Nova (with a pretty heavily built 355 in it at the time), went back to meet him at McDonald's, then proceeded to spank his ass while his buddies watched. Put the prick in his place and got free gas out of it.

Rob
