A question on gas mileage

I have a question about gas mileage. It could be completely related to the setup of my particular Corolla. I have a 2000, three-speed automatic transmission and the venerable 1.8L 1zz engine. My car yields around 26 city and 32 highway. Is this normal for other people with a similar Corolla setup? If this is not normal, does anyone have any suggestions? I have exhausted all my other resources, so I suspect it has to do with the mechanical limits of the three-speed.

Thanks,
Bob

Comparable to what I get in the 93 with the 3 speed auto. In mixed driving I'm seeing 28 mpg. Still not bad for the gas guzzler of the fleet but I thought the gas mileage would have been better.

My 92 Corolla had great gas mileage until recently. Now it seems to get about 20 MPG but was getting about 35 I think.
