HUD fading issuepottsy710 06-11-2005, 10:53 PM My hud keeps fading on my 97 gp gt, it's only got about 60k miles on it, but electrical probs appear to be random in occurence, i know about the cold solder joint on the photo cell, and i read that you can resolder it, but those solder joints are really tiny and i'm afraid i will mess it up further, does anyone know where to find the entire circuit board with the photo cell on it??? and if so how much i'm going to spend??? GTP Dad 06-12-2005, 10:37 AM Why waste the money when the soldering takes only a couple of minutes and costs virtually nothing. I realize the connection is small but with a pencil iron and some low temp solder you shouldn't have any problems repairing the connection. I've seen it on places like Ebay for around $75.00 - $100.00. Another option would be a salvage yard. If you're not comfortable about soldering as GTP Dad suggested you can take it to a TV, radio or sound systems repair shop and let them do it for a nomimal cost which would be less tedious than hunting for the part and wasting money. Just my 2 cents. :2cents: Good luck! http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y186/lizzywiz/gtp.jpg Thrasher CAI, DHP v1.0 ECU, 3.25 SC pulley, CAIT GMAF, Hi-Flow CAT, u-bend delete, 160 TS,TB spacer, MSD 8.5mm wires, Autolite 104 spark plugs, Goodyear Gatorback Serp. & SC Belt, Nitto NT555R Drag Radials ericvrose 06-13-2005, 12:06 PM I did'nt even have to use any solder. I just touched the tip of the iron on the contact and let it melt and cool. Fixed. BNaylor 06-13-2005, 12:50 PM I did'nt even have to use any solder. I'm pretty handy with a soldering iron. I'd love to give the credit to GTP Dad but I learned about this fix from someone at clubgp about 3 months ago. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
