AC CLUTCH not engagingdesmarkus 06-10-2005, 04:42 PM My AC clutch in my 1997 caravan 3.0 L won't engage. I assumed this was because of low freon levels. Since the van is new to me I tried jumping the switch just to see if the pump is siezed and to trouble shoot ahead before putting money into a freon top up. I tried everything and I couldn't get the clutch to grab. The fuses are good. Can Anyone advise on jumping the the low freon switch, or trouble shooting the ac clutch. breeze12 06-11-2005, 01:35 PM My AC clutch in my 1997 caravan 3.0 L won't engage. I would then start adding freon to the system. you will know if its going to kick on in about 5 seconds. if not save the rest of your 134. check your relays, and I also belive there is a inline fuse by the compressor. the plug to override the pressure switch is located in the line itself, so just follow the line and cross the two wires and it should engage. most of the time this should be enough diagnosis. If not take it to a reputable place for an hour diagnosis, usually about $50 to $85 hope this helps. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
