IMPORTANT question about S/C pulley and A/C noise.3859C1 06-10-2005, 02:28 AM Hello everybody, Has anyone experienced noise from the air conditioner when it's running after they have installed a new smaller pulley? I have also installed a larger tensioner pulley, CAI, plugs and PCM. I would imagine the A/C sound is due to the smaller pulley and/or the tensioner but, maybe I'm wrong. Also when the A/C is and at idle I can rev the motor and when I let off the tach will stay in the spot where I let off at for a few seconds then slowly come back down to a normal idle. Thsi is strange and has just started since the parts were installed. One more thing- where is the correct location for the larger tensioner pulley? It looks like there is more than one tensioner pulley. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks alot. Normally, if you put in a 3.4 SC pulley you don't need to go to the larger tensioner pulley. Its just a recommendation. Are you running Gatorback belts? Aren't you the guy that has that WAIT4ME ECU/PCM? Did you have idle problems before you modded the ECU? The only thing I can recommend is going through a systematical process of ellimination even if it means putting old stuff back on to troubleshoot. http://www.photobucket.com/albums/y186/lizzywiz/gtp.jpg Thrasher CAI, DHP v1.0 ECU, 3.25 SC pulley, CAIT GMAF, Hi-Flow CAT, u-bend delete, 160 TS,TB spacer, MSD 8.5mm wires, Autolite 104 spark plugs, Goodyear Gatorback Serp. & SC Belt, Nitto NT555R Drag Radials 3859C1 06-10-2005, 02:04 PM
What size pulley did you install? Yes, I put a 3.4" pulley on and the larger tensioner pulley. So, the tensioner pulley must be making the belt to tight huh. Could I just get a longer belt? What size? Thanks. 3859C1 06-10-2005, 02:11 PM

What size pulley did you install? Normally, if you put in a 3.4 SC pulley you don't need to go to the larger tensioner pulley. I tried just the pulley plugs and CAI without a reprogrammed PCM but, there was a tip in hesitation from too much fuel not enough air when I would step on the gas. I putr in the PCM tuned for my mods and it runs perfectly. The PCM works just like it should. BNaylor 06-10-2005, 02:26 PM What year was your GTP?? There has to be some belt freeplay or you'll get those funny noises or cause premature wear on the pulley system to include SC nose drive/coupler. A longer SC belt could be the way to go or just go back to the original tensioner pulley. But I would highly recommend using Goodyear Gatorback belts, especially for the SC in the event you get high rpm belt slip if the belt happens to be a little bit too long. http://www.photobucket.com/albums/y186/lizzywiz/gtp.jpg Thrasher CAI, DHP v1.0 ECU, 3.25 SC pulley, CAIT GMAF, Hi-Flow CAT, u-bend delete, 160 TS,TB spacer, MSD 8.5mm wires, Autolite 104 spark plugs, Goodyear Gatorback Serp. & SC Belt, Nitto NT555R Drag Radials 3859C1 06-10-2005, 02:46 PM
What year was your GTP?? I would like to get a Gatorback belt, how much longer belt would I need if I left the larger tensioner pulley on? BNaylor 06-10-2005, 02:58 PM
What year was your GTP?? I would like to get a Gatorback belt, how much longer belt would I need if I left the larger tensioner pulley on? This info should give you an idea. The following Gatorback SC belts will work with the following pulleys: 4060660 belt = 3.25” - 3.4” pulleys 4060650 belt = 2.9” - 3.1” pulleys 4060642 belt = 2.7” - 2.85” pulleys Supercharger Belt Size 4060660 Belt - 66.0" long 4060650 Belt - 65.0" long 4060642 Belt - 64.2" long It depends on the size of the replacement tensioner pulley but probably up to 1/2 to 1 inch. However, I don't know the Goodyear part numbers for longer SC belts. Good luck! http://www.photobucket.com/albums/y186/lizzywiz/gtp.jpg Thrasher CAI, DHP v1.0 ECU, 3.25 SC pulley, CAIT GMAF, Hi-Flow CAT, u-bend delete, 160 TS,TB spacer, MSD 8.5mm wires, Autolite 104 spark plugs, Goodyear Gatorback Serp. & SC Belt, Nitto NT555R Drag Radials BNaylor 06-10-2005, 03:27 PM BTW - Here's the part number breakdown of a GoodYear Poly-V belt: Functional Part Number Gives You The Size Of The Belt EXAMPLE: 4 06 049 5 1st digit (4) represents a K section Poly V-belt. 2nd and 3rd digit gives the number of ribs. 4th, 5th, and 6th digit are the length in inches. 7th digit is tenth of an inch. Part number 4060495 would be a K section Poly-V belt, six ribs wide, with a length of 49 and 5/10 inches. Hope the info helps. http://www.photobucket.com/albums/y186/lizzywiz/gtp.jpg Thrasher CAI, DHP v1.0 ECU, 3.25 SC pulley, CAIT GMAF, Hi-Flow CAT, u-bend delete, 160 TS,TB spacer, MSD 8.5mm wires, Autolite 104 spark plugs, Goodyear Gatorback Serp. & SC Belt, Nitto NT555R Drag Radials
3859C1 06-10-2005, 03:34 PM Wow!
