Thanks for the tour Ion. Now I know why it costs $1500 - 2000 to rebuild one. Gotta pay for all those parts, all that time, and all that know how.

OK Ion, I am now officially terrified and humbled (yet again) by how much I don't know. There is NO way I'd ever attempt to do this repair on my own. Some things are just better left to the experts. I would only consider swapping out a dead tranny with a rebuilt unit (my new "official policy"). Thank you for the sobering pictures.
