I got a '03 ram 1500 conversion van with a 318 engin and less than 40K miles. It runs great for a while then stalls whenever not in park/nutural. I was able to power brake it for a while without much of a problem then it began miss and lose power until it puttered to a stop. It would start right up and putter off again. The wierd thing was when starting, it would make a noise (similar to the rattling sound an engin makes when dieseling) for a second then start. No matter the weather this happens. The engin was running steady temp around 200 degrees with an oil pressure guage reading of bout 50 and no "idiot" lights

oh forgot to add... NOT ONE ERROR CODE when placed on the scanner.

any suggestions??

There's other posts here where the computer was to blame for problems similar to what you've got.

A crankshaft position sensor will cause this problem and it does not throw a code.

Had a problem like this and it would hesitate when you try to accelerate...replaced the gas filter....it is under the passenger side of the van where the doors are....you need special tool to remove.

Check neutral switch, If it is out of adjustment, or has loose connection. You can get a interruption of the start circuit.
Or could be a bad fuel filter for contaminated fuel. Try using a good, not necessarrily expensive fuel treatment. Fill with permium fuel. I have to fill my mercedes with premium about every 190 tank. I would look for the in line fuel filter along the rail.
With Fuel injection, there could be pressure on the line. Be sure to read and understand the direction as Norm Says. Or take the vehicle to a quaified mechanic.
Another possibility, can be the electronic ignition module under the hood. Sometime they develope a heat related hiccup.
Also when was the last time you replaced the plugs. Bad plugs can cause lots of problems too.
Good luck
