95 sl2 transmission to 95 sl1RSKBDK 06-06-2005, 05:23 PM Question # 1 Will A Transmission From A 1995 Sl2 Fit Right Into A 1995 Sl1 , Automatic ? ? ? Question # 2 I Know You Told Me That The Motors Are The Same 91-92 , 93-94 , 95 , Are The Bore And Strokes And Compression Ratios Different Also , Or Just Stuff Like Electric And Vacuum Egr's ? ? ? Question # 3 I Like A Stiff Ride , But The Room Of A 4 Door , So Can I Install 1992 Sc2 Struts Into A 1992 Sl2 ? , What Years Are The Struts The Same 91 - 95 ? ? ? Question # 4 I Bought A 1995 Sl2 For Parts For 100.00 And To My Surprise It's In Great Shape And After Little Money And Some Hours Labor It Runs Great , But I Bought It With No Title And From Conn. As The Guy Had Claimed Bankrupcey And Theres A Lein On The Title But The Bank Never Came To Pick Up The Car , Now Being That It Runs So Good I'd Like To Use It But Can't Register It With No Title , Any Suggustions ? ? ? ? Thanks , Bob The Saturn Nut sierrap615 06-07-2005, 01:38 AM 1, physicilly, yes it will. however the gear raitos are different, and there is no way for a SOHC PCM to control a DOHC automatic transmission. the PCM would to into limp home mode and would not shift. 2. the internal differances are as follows(to the best of my knowage): crankshafts 91/92 have one style of crankshaft, not compatible with any other years with out swaping PCMs(and a few other things) 93-mid99 have another style simular the 91/92 however the toner ring for the CPS is different mid-99-02 is the last style, same toner ring as 93-mid-99, but balanced a little better. crankshafts 93-02 interchange connecting rods 91-mid99 interchange mid99-02 interchange pistions DOHC 91-mid99 interchange 91-93 for slightly lower compression 94-mid99 for slightly higher compression in 1996 i think they changed the ring grooves but am not sure. mid99-02 interchange SOHC 91 claims to be unique, may be interchangible with 92-mid99 for different compression??? mid99-02 interchange SOHC pistons should work with DOHC heads but not vise versa. pistons should be kept with their connecting rods. 91-mid99 pistons require 91-mid99 connecting rods mid99-02 pistons require mid99-02 connecting rods cylinder heads(in general) DOHC 91-94 interchange(however 91 heads have a different P/N, its a minor difference i think). will work with some later years with EGR adapter plate for 95-mid99, leave a extra sensor disconnected for 96-mid99 95 are unique, will work with 94 with CA emissions and 96-mid99(leave sensor disconnected) 96-mid99 interchange, will work with 94 with CA emissions and 95(drill and tap new hole for extra sensor) mid99-02 interchange, i don't think they are compatable with earlier years due to intake manifold to firewall clearance. valves 91-mid99 interchange 91-93 for slightly higher compression 94-mid99 for slightly lower compression SOHC 91-94 TBI interchange(however 91 heads have a different P/N, its a minor difference i think). 95 MPFI are unique, will work with 96-02(leave sensor disconnected) 96-02 SFI interchange(i think, there are a few different P/N), will work with 95(drill and tap new hole for extra sensor) valves 91-02 interchange you can convert TBI to MPFI/SFI with a bit of work manifolds change a bit, about on the same lines as the heads mid99-02 have a stronger windage pan, which can be installed on earlier engines with a few other peices. all block interchange, but mid99-02 are a little thicker and a little stronger. i think thats basicly it. 3. don't think there are any big differences it stock struts, search for KYB struts 4. i'm not sure what the deal is if the bank has a lein on it. but you could try to apply for a new title or a mechanic's lein from the DMV, or if that doesn't work ask the bank if you can buy it from them. RSKBDK 06-08-2005, 10:07 PM thanks , if the 95 sl2 autotranny wount fit into the 95 sl1 will it work in a 1992 sl2 ? ? ? sierrap615 06-09-2005, 02:48 AM i don't think so, i beleave there was some electrical changes for the 95 year, plus a hydraulic change mid-year 92. search on saturnfans.com to confirm RSKBDK 06-09-2005, 07:17 PM is there any difference between a 1995 sl2 dohc motor and a 1995 sc2 dohc motor , ? compression ratio bore and stroke etc. ? ? ? ? sierrap615 06-09-2005, 11:05 PM no, they are identical vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
