2002 Engine in a 95 SC1????qtband 06-05-2005, 09:55 PM I can get a 2002 engine and tranny for next to nothing. Will it work in a 95 SC1? Or, is it not worth the hassle?? qtband sierrap615 06-06-2005, 12:42 AM SOHC engine? yes. DOHC, i don't think so. manual trans - yes auto trans - no(unless you swap wiring harness and PCMs) qtband 06-06-2005, 04:35 PM Some one said that I should drop the engine and tranny with the subframe and swap it out that way. (& the PCM). Any thoughts???? qt sierrap615 06-07-2005, 12:30 AM not sure if the cradle is interchangible, but if it doesn't you can swap the new engine/trans on the old cradle. depending on your skill and tools, it may be easier to remove the engine from the bottom, but you need a lift. keep the 95 PCM if you can, the 2002 model uses a different PCM manufactior and mounting location. plus you would need to convert OBD-I to OBD-II detroittiger85 07-25-2005, 06:44 PM i just finished putting a 2001 sohc in my 1992. I got a used sohc from ebay and a rebult auto tranny for a 1994 and everything bolted up fine, except for my coolant temp sensor i think, othaner than that it fired right up. got everything incl. the car for bout a grand, makes a great college car. and cheap too. If this helps u any and have any ?'s email me at detroittiger85@yahoo.com sierrap615 07-25-2005, 10:39 PM 2001 into a 1992? nice work, how hard was the PCM/wiring harness swap? detroittiger85 07-28-2005, 01:09 AM i didnt swap harness, meaning i didnt convert to obd-II,i just left it to run like a 1992 with the 1992 manifolds, not like the 2001 w/the 2001 manifolds. i also had to mount and ground the single wire coolant temp sensor, i did this in the upper radiator hose w/ a piece of pipe and secure the ground wire w/ a hose clamp and a block bolt. it worked fine for me. other people say the heads arent interchangeable but if u do it like i did it works really well. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
